Hoshi ni Negaiwo (Wish Upon a Star)

Hoshi ni Negaiwo (Wish Upon a Star)

To wish upon a star.
A form of prayer that hasn’t changed since ancient times.
Memory of a blue prayer.
People 1,000 years ago, we in the present, and people 1,000 years from now
all look to the stars and offer up a precious prayer for someone.

Oh, light
Go beyond

I pray for world peace through the medium of karakami.
I pray that people’s hearts will be calm and happy.

※ “Wish Upon a Star” is Toto Akihiko’s life’s work, an evolving piece and a prayer for world peace.
The first installment, made for Yogen-in in 2010, is displayed alongside Tawaraya Sotatsu’s important cultural property “Karajishizu (Chinese Lion).”
